Stalcup Ag Managers and Appraisers are all professionally accredited. All who have met the experience and education requirements have the AFM “Accredited Farm Manager” and some have both the AFM and ARA “Accredited Rural Appraiser.”  You can be sure that you will have qualified people who know agriculture representing you!

Kent K. Smith AFM

President

Kent was raised on a grain and livestock farm in south Central Nebraska and graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1983. He came to Stalcup Ag Service in 1987 after working four years as a farm manager, rural appraiser, and real estate broker for a bank in Sioux City, Iowa.

Kent earned his AFM (Accredited Farm Manager) title in 1988 and served as President of the Iowa Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 2005. He also served as President of the Education Foundation, Iowa Chapter Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers in 2006. In addition, he has participated on several state and national committees with the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.

Kent is active in church and 4-H in Buena Vista County. He currently serves on the Endowment Board for both organizations.

Dennis Reyman AFM, ARA

Treasurer

Dennis was raised on a grain and livestock farm in Woodbury County, Iowa. He received a degree in Farm Management from Iowa Lakes Community College in 1979 and a degree in Business and Economics from Morningside College in 1992. He farmed and worked in the feed and fertilizer business prior to joining Stalcup Agricultural Service in 1993 as a farm real estate appraiser. He has prepared appraisal reports on agricultural properties throughout Northwest Iowa and the surrounding areas. He manages farmland across Western Iowa and Northeastern Nebraska and is active in real estate sales.

Dennis earned his ARA (Accredited Rural Appraiser) in 1998 and the AFM (Accredited Farm Manager) in 2001. He served as president of the Iowa Chapter Board of Directors in 2009 and its Education Foundation in 2010. He has served on several state and national committees of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers. From 2008-2019 he served as national co-chairman of the ASFMRA Government Relations Committee and he assisted with the Society’s annual Leadership Institute in Washington, DC each September. He served as coordinator of the Quad States meeting in Sioux City in 2010 and was involved in helping re-institute a farmland appraisal course at Iowa State University.

He has also served on church, extension, and local elevator boards and serves as Corporate Treasurer of Stalcup Agricultural Service.

Dennis served as the 2020/2021 national President of ASFMRA.

Nathan Deters AFM

Vice-President

Nathan grew up in the small town of Eitzen in southeastern Minnesota where his work experience included the family implement business and working on livestock and crop farms.

He attended Iowa State University and received a degree in Animal Science in 1987. Following graduation he worked at a farm supply cooperative in agronomy sales and as a location manager. He was also a livestock buyer for a large meat packing company.

Nathan joined Stalcup Ag Service in 1998 as a farm manager and farm real estate sales person, and earned his AFM (Accredited Farm Manager) title in 2002. He currently manages farms and sells farm real estate in northwest and north central Iowa.

Nathan is involved in the community serving on various boards including church council and is a youth mentor. Nathan also serves as Vice President of Stalcup Ag Service.

Chad Husman AFM

Secretary

Chad grew up on a grain and livestock farm in Cherokee County, Iowa. He received a degree in Agribusiness Technology from Iowa Lakes Community College in 2005 and a degree in Agronomy in 2007 from Northwest Missouri State. Chad was an Agronomist and Precision Ag Specialist for C-S Agrow/Ag Partners in Calumet, IA. He sold fertilizer, chemical, seed, and provided crop scouting and recommendations. He specialized in GPS automatic steering, yield monitoring, and variable-rate application and GPS planter control. He earned his National and Iowa Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) title in 2009.

Chad joined Stalcup Ag Service in May 2011. He manages farms mostly northwest of Storm Lake, and is active in farm real estate. He also leads Stalcup’s GIS and soil sampling program. Chad earned his AFM (Accredited Farm Manager) title in 2014. Chad has served as secretary of Stalcup Ag Service since 2015. In 2018, Chad received the Early Career Award from Iowa Chapter of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA). Chad’s involvement with the ASFMRA includes serving on state level committees, a member of the Board of Directors of Education, and was a delegate to the Leadership Institute in Washington D.C.

Travis Nissen ARA

Travis grew up in Lake Park, a small town near Spirit Lake in Northwest Iowa. While growing up he worked on farms in the area and other jobs including a lawn care company and a dehydrated alfalfa processor.

Travis earned a BS degree in Finance and Real Estate from the University of Northern Iowa in 2011. While attending college, he did a year-long internship with a commercial and residential appraisal firm in Cedar Falls.

Travis joined Stalcup Ag Service in 2012 and completed the 300 hours of required appraisal classes, 3,000 hours of required appraisal work, passed the Certified General Appraiser exam, and completed the work product review process. He was issued a Certified General Real Property Appraiser license in July 2016. He attained the Accredited Rural Appraiser (ARA) designation in 2019 and holds an Iowa Real Estate Salesperson License.

Grant Aschinger AFM

Grant grew up on a farm Northwest of Lake View in Sac County. He received a degree in Business Administration from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA in 2005. He worked as an agronomy salesman at United Agri Products/Crop Production Services in South Sioux City, NE for 4 years. He also worked in the seed business as a District Sales Manager for 4 years.

Grant joined the Stalcup staff in April 2013. He manages farms and is active in real estate primarily through the central part of Stalcup Ag Service’s territory.

Grant earned his AFM (Accredited Farm Manager) title in 2015. He is active in the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) as an Iowa Chapter board member (2020-present), multiple state level committees, and was a delegate to the Leadership Institute in Washington DC in 2016. In 2021 Grant was awarded the Early Career Award from the Iowa Chapter of ASFMRA.

Grant is also active in the community through service on the Galva-Holstein Community School District School Board (2011-present), Holstein Country Club Board (January 2019-present), and as a youth football, baseball/softball, and basketball coach.

Dan Niemeier AFM

Dan joined the Stalcup team in November 2014. He grew up working with crops and livestock in Cherokee County, graduating from Aurelia in 2002. Dan immediately joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a sergeant at U.S. Embassies across the Middle East. After the Marines, he served with the State Department, providing security in combat operations across the globe. Upon completing six years of service, Dan returned home to Aurelia to begin farming and raising hogs. In addition to farming, he attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, graduating with a Finance and Business degree. Dan has extensive experience in production agriculture and a passion for agricultural economics.

He earned his Accredited Farm Manager (AFM) in 2018 and graduated from the Worldwide College of Auctioneering in 2019. Dan is the land auctioneer for Stalcup Ag Service.

Luke Pearson AFM

Luke was raised on a grain farm north of Aurelia in Cherokee County, IA. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from Iowa State University in 2013. Following graduation, he was employed by NEW Cooperative from 2013 to 2019 as a sales agronomist at Palmer and Pierson. He sold seed, chemical, fertilizer, soil sampling and scouted crops. He joined the Stalcup team in August 2019. Luke brings a strong agronomic background with experience ranging from heavy glacial soils of north central Iowa, to wind-blown Loess soils of western Iowa. He earned his Accredited Farm Manager (AFM) designation in 2022.

Vince Hanson

Vince Hanson joined Stalcup Ag Service through the acquisition of Dunlap Appraisal & Agri-Management, Inc. and offers a unique, practical perspective in their farm management division for South Dakota landowners. He has operated a commercial grain and livestock farm for over 45 years, and has a strong background in grain and hay operations. Vince was involved with early implementation of no-till crop production as well as precision and variable rate technologies. He continues to have a conservation-friendly farming operation in partnership with his son. Vince has also developed two rural residential subdivisions in Minnehaha County.

Vince studied Agricultural Economics at South Dakota State University and is a licensed Real Estate Broker Associate. Vince is a Director on the board of Alliance Communication Cooperative, and has held several board positions for this telecommunications company that serves approximately 13,000 customers in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. In addition to his son, Vince has two married daughters and five grandchildren living in Sioux Falls.
