Rainfall over the last week has been widespread with nice totals for late July. Most corn southeast of Storm Lake is
finishing or already finished with pollination and moving into kernel fill. Some corn fields were sprayed with
fungicide to limit disease pressure and increase overall crop health. Corn fields with good drainage look to yield
above average while fields with moisture stress will be closer to an average crop.

Soybeans have greatly benefited from the warmer temperatures the last couple of weeks. We are starting to hear
about increasing populations of soybean aphids in northwest Iowa. Some fields will be treated with
insecticide during the next couple weeks.

The grain markets have fallen dramatically over the last couple weeks. Our mid summer rally was sparked by poor
growing conditions in Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri, but drier weather in July stabilized the crop condition in those
areas. This weather market is likely to continue into harvest when yield results begin being reported.
