SE of Storm Lake, corn planting was a common sight over the weekend of April 13th and continued until widespread rain was received on April 16th.  Totals vary, but generally all progress stopped for the short term.  This change in weather also brought cooler temperatures which are forecasted to drop soil temperatures 10 to 15 degrees.  The cooling trend is expected to end by April 21st.  If no additional rain is received during that time, we expect to see planting activity resume.  Sprayers will likely be a common sight later this week to resume applying pre-emerge herbicides for both corn and soybean fields.
