Another weekend has passed and another blanket of snow for Northwest Iowa. By the end of the day today (Tuesday) almost all of the snow will be melted again, but this last round will just delay planting a little longer. The two week forecast has a couple nice days coming up but then more cold weather hindering the warming of the soil.
Yesterday the USDA released their initial corn planting update. Not surprising, no planting progress reported for the top 5 states of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Nebraska. US corn planting progress swas reported at 2%.
Monthly WASDE (Supply and Demand) reports were released this morning at 11:00. Corn and soybean supplies were mostly in line with trader’s estimates so reaction will likely be minimal. Current market drivers will be spring weather and any ongoing political disruptions.
