Soybean harvest is complete except for few replant areas. Drainage was the biggest factor driving soybean yields this year. Soybean yields in our Northwest territory ranged from 35 to 70 bushels per acre, sometimes in the same field. Overall yields were above average.
Favorable weather has allowed the corn to dry down to 17% to 21% moisture. This is impressive considering the corn was behind normal and very wet only a few weeks ago. Corn harvest is now in full speed. Yields are variable, but overall slightly above average. The biggest factors driving corn yield this year are drainage, disease pressure, and nitrogen availability. Yields so far are ranging from 160 to 210 bushels per acre. Corn harvest will finish up in the next few weeks depending on the weather.
