We continue to see at least some scattered showers per week during the month of August. Last week most areas got in on the rain except for Western Plymouth, Sioux, and Lyon counties. Areas that have been getting the rain will see improved soybean yield. Unfortunately the July heat is back which will hurt soybean yields and speed up corn harvest even more.Corn harvest has started mainly in the southern parts of our territory. Western areas hit hard by drought are also taking out a little corn. There is a huge variability in both maturity and yield levels. With more heat and wind forecast this week I expect corn harvest will be pick up next week.
