Most of this region has benefited from an inch or more of rain in the past week. Warm temps keep the crops on
the verge of stress especially when moisture gets short. The forecast is for hot weather, so continued rain will be
critical.

Corn will be pollinating over the next three weeks. That time is extended because of the wide variety of planting
dates. This is a critical stage for corn development and determining yield. Some fields will be sprayed with a
fungicide using a plane, helicopter, or high clearance sprayer soon to control leaf diseases.

Soybeans are starting or will soon start blooming soon. The most critical stage of soybeans is in August when
they are setting pods.
