Comments:

Chad Husman AFM

More heavy rains this past week caused major flooding in rivers, streams, and low laying areas throughout Northwest Iowa especially on the Rock and Big Sioux rivers in Lyon and Sioux Counties. It may be too late to replant many flooded areas.

Crops not affected by flooding are healthy and growing quickly. The warm temperatures and ample soil moisture is allowing the corn to grow rapidly. The soybeans don’t do as well in saturated soils. Many soybean fields need to be sprayed for weeds as soon as the weather allows.
