Nathan Deters AFM

A good week of harvest weather led to good progress on soybeans and a decent start on corn. By the end of this week virtually all of the soybeans in the area should be harvested. Yields have been highly variable, ranging from well below to well above average. Final results were mainly determined by drainage. Some normally very productive, heavy soils have suffered, while hilly, lighter soils have showed excellent production. Corn moisture has dropped to the high teens to low 20’s. This is a good level to start harvest at to avoid incurring high drying costs. Early yield results are mostly respectable but not record setting.
