A Pretty Quiet Week, both in markets and weather. Crops are progressing to maturity at a continued ahead of normal pace. Some areas recieved a light rain last Friday, and a more general heavy rain today. Overall, soil moisture in most places is adequate to finish out the crop.
The big news this week is the annual Pro Farmer Crop Tour that takes a course across the heart of the corn belt to get an idea on crop yield potential. Up to today they have covered the eastern and western ends of the belt, and will finish with Iowa, Illinois, and Minnesota by Friday. So far, They are finding that corn yield estimates may be high in the recent USDA reports, but soybean yield potential is solid. We will report on the final tour results in next weeks update.
