Another cool, pleasant week, but not much rain. A few areas were fortunate to pick up some showers, but no general rains. In areas with better soil moisture, the soybeans have some decent yield potential, but they are losing pods and yield in the driest areas. Some corn will reach maturity this week in the driest areas, but most is 2 to 3 weeks from that stage. Yield potential is highly variable. The areas
fortunate to have recieved a couple of extra rains this year look quite good, but the areas that missed out and the farms with light soils will see very short yields. Markets are stronger again. The widely watched Pro Farmer crop tour is making their way across the corn belt this week, and early reports from the fields in South Dakota,Nebraska, Ohio and Indiana are confirming that significant yield damage has
been sustained in most areas. They will finish on Thursday, and it will be interesting to see what their final yield estimates are.
