The first real hot spell of the summer hit this past week. Crops continue to progress rapidly with the heat and generally adequate soil moisture. Temperatures in the mid 90’s deplete moisture rapidly, so it will be important to continue to receive normal rains. we have been running a little behind for June, which is normally our wettest month bud did receive a very welcomed general rain on the 14th.
The grain markets continue to move higher on concerns about hot forecasts. Crop conditions update this week showed the crop in good shape through most of the corn belt, but there are several areas that are trending drier and may become a concern with the above normal heat conditions
