Nathan Deters AFM

Spring is here and it brings the typical rainfall with it. The amount of rainfall is the concern. With precipitation 5 of the last 7 days and more rain forecast this weekend, planting has been delayed for at least five days to a week. The temperatures have been dropping into the thirties a few nights and staying well under 60 during the day.Temperatures in the thirties are not conducive to corn emergence so the best off corn may still be in the bag.

Markets both have seen some strength this week with planting concerns and corn shortages in South America and South Africa. Turmoil in the Brazilian Government might be driving the soybean market as well. Funds moving positions has gave a solid base for the increased trading range in both markets
