Our fall newsletter commented on rising land values with several sales in the $7,000’s and even as high as $9,575 per acre. That turned out to be only the beginning of one of the strongest surges in land values in recent memory.
Timing is key in anything, including marketing grain and writing an article about the subject. If this article were written in early March instead of March 15th, the tone would be entirely different. We would have discussed tight supplies of many commodities, strong demand for those same commodities, the price battle amongst crops to attract enough planted acreage in 2011, and cash bids approaching record highs or setting record highs.
