Nathan Deters AFM

The past week brought more wet conditions, no progress was made in planting. The majority of local soils are saturated, and quite a few low areas in fields are under water. The forecast for this week is clear and sunny, but it will take all week with warmth and wind to make many areas suitable for fieldwork. An estimate on corn progress for the state of Iowa is 50-60% planted. The earliest planted corn should be emerging this week. There will likely need to be some areas replanted where water sat too long. Nationwide, corn planting progress stands at 45%.
Very few soybeans have been planted in the area.

In the markets, soybeans continue to be surprisingly strong while corn is holding steady.
